Customer reviewsA good product with caveats
I have ridden expresso bikes for about 4 or 5 years at my local gym. This includes the current and prior generation. Expresso bikes offer a seriously taxing workout and the ride experience is engaging. The selection of courses is decent and the newest generation has a big improvement in the image quality and environment. Expresso is an odd company that almost pushed themselves into obscurity by altering the subscription arrangements early on in a manner than many didn t appreciate. The ride is nothing close to riding outdoors. There is almost no inertia momentum and so the avatar will come to what seems like an artificial stop quickly once you stop pedaling, even on a downhill. The bike could benefit from a weighty flywheel. The power readings make no real-world sense either. Two days ago I was riding down a 7 decline at 267 wattts and my speed was 21 mph, at the same wattage on the flat my speed was 21 mph. The maximum speed seems to top out around 30 mph. Sometimes the appearance of the grade does not correlate with the , steep can be modest incline decline, flat appearance can be steep ish . There is no doubt it is a well developed product and if you ride it you will get a stomping workout that is quite immersive. It just has its own thing going on that does not really simulate an outside riding experience. The bikes I ride get plenty of use, they are popular but they are also often out of service in need of repair. This could be a function of the volume of their use, but is a drag coupled with their popularity.
